CSK vs DC Dream11 Prediction
Chennai Super Kings
When the 12th season of IPL started, Chennai Super Kings looked to be an unbeatable team, almost too good for the league. The massive victories over RCB and DC proved the point. Their ability to outright dominate the sides was on full display.
However, as the season wore off, chinks in the mighty champions’ armour started to come to fore. The biggest among them was the inconsistent batting. Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, and Kedar Jadhav all struggled in varying degrees to perform on a consistently. This was on full display in the first Qualifier against Mumbai Indians. The opening trio of Faf du Plessis, Watson and Raina all were back in the dugout after scoring only a combined 21 runs.-- Advertisement --
Their early dismissals put immense pressure on the lower order, thus leading to a low run-rate. The team could manage only 131/4, a target which was anything but defendable for the bowlers.
If MS Dhoni & Co. are to salvage anything on Friday, their top-order will have to perform really well, especially considering that this young and in-form Delhi Capitals team is capable of chasing down any total thrown at them.
On the brighter side, CSK’s bowling attack has been playing really well. They have suffered from not having a specialist fast bowler among their ranks. Nonetheless, Deepak Chahar and the spinners have taken up their responsibilities really well. They will be hopeful of capitalizing on Vizag’s slow pitch.
Delhi Capitals have really been one of the surprise packages of this campaign. Their young but talented squad didn’t generate enough confidence among the experts at the season’s start. But as the competition progressed, everyone saw a very different side of DC.
They were more clinical in their victories, and even ruthless at times. DC scripted some memorable wins, like the ones against KKR and MI, to finish the group stage with 18 points – undoubtedly their best season so far. Nonetheless, they will still feel unlucky to have finished third.
Batting has very much been DC’s strength this season. The addition of an experienced Shikhar Dhawan from SRH may be considered as one of the best bit of businesses done in the transfer window. The Delhi man has been in scintillating form at the top, scoring 503 runs. What more, Dhawan has been able to bring out the best from his fellow young batsmen – Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant. On their day, DC’s menacing batting line-up can chase down any total thrown at them.
However, it will be the bowling department that will be Delhi’s cause of concern on Wednesday. Their leading wicket-taker this term – Kagiso Rabada – will not be playing for the rest of the season. As a result, the onus will be on the domestic bowlers to step up well in his absence. And they have done exactly that in the last few game.
Ishant Sharma, with 4 wickets in his last two games, really is the pick of the lot. The towering pacer has really made an excellent comeback after briefly losing his place in the middle of the season. Amit Mishra is another local stars to have shone in the last few games. Keemo Paul too grabbed the limelight with his all-round show against SRH. Having already scalped 3 wickets, the young West Indian hit the winning boundary as DC thumped last year’s runner-ups by two-wickets. DC will very much be hoping to replicate this result against CSK on Friday.
Brilliant variations with the ball, and hitting the winning runs! ??

This will be a monumental match between two very contrasting teams. At one hand, you have one of the most successful sides of the league in CSK. On the other, there are the trophy-less Delhi Capitals, who are making an appearance in the Knockouts for the first time in 7 years. One have a highly experienced unit, the other, a young but hungry side. One is struggling to perform well, while others are highflying with momentum on their side.
The precise balance, thus, makes it difficult to predict the outcome of this contest. But, going merely by the gut feeling, it seems like Delhi Capitals have in them to beat the mighty Chennai Super Kings.
From the first knockout game between SRH and DC that the ACA-VDCA Stadium clear that slow pitch at with its low bounce, is expected to provide an edge to bowlers. Choosing 4 bowlers would just do the trick. In the batting department, openers and lower-order batsman should be your choice.
