CSK vs MI Dream11 Prediction
Chennai Super Kings
The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings started their title defence in style with a series of dominating performances. By halfway, they almost looked unassailable. However, chinks started to appear in their famed batting order once MS Dhoni was absent for a couple of games. A series of patchy games culminated with CSK losing their last league engagement against KXIP. It also meant that they had to abdicate their place at the top of the table to MI. Their troubles got exacerbated after seasoned all-rounder Kedar Jadhav suffered a shoulder injury, effectively ruling him out for the rest of the competition.
Nonetheless, CSK still remain one of the most formidable sides of the IPL. On their day, they can simply be unbeatable. Moreover, CSK will be happy about the fact that the crucial Qualifier will be held at their fortress in Chepauk. Chennai Super Kings have won all their games played here in the group stages – except for the one against Mumbai Indians.
In terms of performances, Skipper MS Dhoni has been a standout performer for CSK. The veteran wicket-keeper-batsman is the team’s highest run-getter at 368 runs from 12 matches which includes 3 fifties. Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina have performed impressively as well. However, more than batsman, it has been the bowler’s season out this year for CSK. Imran Tahir (21), Deepak Chahar (18), Ravindra Jadeja (13) and Harbhajan Singh (13) have been consistent wicket-takers for Chennai. Their powers have been further augmented by Chepauk’s dry and slow surface.
Mumbai Indians started the IPL 2019 campaign on the back foot., losing two of their opening three games. But then, once they had defeated Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede, there was no stopping to them. Their standout quality this season has to be their all-round performances. The openers, Quinton de Kock (492 runs) and skipper Rohit Sharma (382 runs) have been in good touch. Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard have proved to be an impressive support as well. Rahul Chahar (10 wickets) is undoubtedly the find of the season while Jasprit Bumrah (17 wickets) and Lasith Malinga (15 wickets) are carrying out their duties as usual.
However, it is Hardik Pandya who has had the best season of the lot this year. The 25-year-old has managed to score a whopping 380 runs in 14 games besides scalping 14 wickets. Boasting of a strike rate of 198.95, Pandya’s big hits towards the end of the innings have often been match-winners for MI. His form will be crucial on Tuesday.
This is certainly a difficult contest to predict, with two equally talented sides clashing. Although Chepauk has been CSK’s fortress for quite a long, their vulnerabilities in the batting departments (complicated by Kedar Jadhav’s injury) may play against them on the home ground’s slow pitch.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have proven to be better equipped to handle slow pitches. Their victories earlier at Chepauk, Hyderabad, and Kotla proves the point. They were victorious against CSK on both the occasions and have the momentum with them entering the game. We, thus, put our money on Mumbai Indians to win this contest.
#MI are peaking well. Key players are in form, they've had a wonderful last day in the league phase and there is a calmness around them.

The pitch in the Chidambaram stadium has a slow and dry surface this season, evident from several low-scoring games that have happened thus far. Therefore, try to choose more bowlers with special focus on spinners. In the batting department, openers and lower-order batsman should be your choice.
