IPL 2019 Anthem: When the Captains Took on the Kids…

The 2019 edition of the world’s richest and the most awaited cricket tournament of the year – the Indian Premier League – is about to begin. In the countdown to the event, the league has announced its arrival with a music video featuring the stars who are seen celebrating the spirit of the game.

IPL Anthem 2019

Dubbed as the ‘IPL Anthem 2019’, the rather peppy video includes a slew of IPL players such as the Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant along with veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. They are all portrayed as practising in their respective team’s jerseys.

In another shot, a group of boys can be seen playing the game as well. In an interesting twist of events, a struggle of space emerges between the two parties. Both then start fighting with each other for extra space.

With the boys about to win the contest, CSK captain MS Dhoni enters the picture. The embarrassed bunch of kids step back, oblivious of how to react.

This, in turn, amuses the captains, who then invite the boys over for a game of cricket. The bunch takes a ladder and climb over the wall’s other side, only to be welcomed by the India skipper Virat Kohli.

IPL 2019

The IPL 2019 season is all geared up to kickstart on March 23. However, for the first time in the history of IPL, there will be no opening ceremony this year. The crucial decision was taken by the Committee of Administrators (CoA) who decided to divert the money set aside towards the families of the CRPF personnel killed in the Pulwama terror attack.

Talking about important decisions, the committee also took the pivotal decision of ending ties with the International Cricket Council’s (ICC)  Anti Corruption Unit and set its own officer for the same. BCCI was reportedly paying up to ₹ 3.1 crores per year to ICC for IPL’s first 10 years.
