IOA Unwraps Stunning Ceremonial Dress & Player Kit for 19th Asian Games

On Tuesday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) revealed the highly awaited official ceremonial dress and sports kit for the Indian team set to participate in the upcoming Asian Games, which are slated to take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.

The IOA hosted an impressive send-off event, attended by the esteemed Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur, as well as IOA President PT Usha, the renowned sprinter, and several other senior dignitaries.

The Indian team was well-represented by a group of athletes from various sports, including PR Sreejesh and Savita Punia, who are accomplished hockey goalkeepers in the men’s and women’s categories respectively. Additionally, the contingent included the shooting prodigy Manu Bhaker and Tajinderpal Singh Toor, who clinched the shot put gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, along with numerous other talented individuals from different sporting disciplines.

Conceived and specially crafted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology, the ceremonial attire comprises a textured khaki saree for women and a khaki kurta for male athletes.

Male athletes’ bandhgala jackets and women’s high neck blouses effortlessly fuse Indian motifs and prints with iconic Indian silhouettes, showcasing India’s diverse cultural heritage on the world stage. This clothing collection embraces eco-friendliness by incorporating recycled fabrics, championing sustainability in fashion.
