This accident is one of the most intense moments when Indian fans flew into emotions and lost their control on the early exit of team India from the ICC World Cup 2007. Fans could not sustain the reality, as India looked very ordinary in that tournament. At the end, fans started to burn the effigies of all the Indian players. This incident demonstrates how the emotions of fans can turn into threats to the safety of players.

In the tournament, India only managed to win two matches out of four and could not make an entry into the super eights. They also faced a setback from Bangladesh, which resulted in India’s sooner exit from the mega event.

This is the second moment in our list where Indian fans lost their cool after seeing India get beaten by Sri Lanka during the semifinals of the 1996 World Cup at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium. Crowd in the stands started to throw bottles in between the matches because India was in trouble in the match.

While giving chase to Sri Lanka’s 252, India lost early wickets and looked in trouble, but a handy partnership between Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar and Sanjay Manjrekar pulled things back. But as Sachin’s wicket fell after that 96-run stand, the Indian batting line-up started to collapse, and at one stage they were 120 for eight wickets.

To see the tight situation of Indians in the match, fans started to misbehave as they started to throw bottles and other things in the ground, and by default, Sri Lanka won the match.

Booing Steven Smith in the World Cup 2019

During a league stage match between India and Australia in the 2019 World Cup, Indian fans started to boo and call Australian batter Steve Smith a cheater. He was marking his return in international cricket after serving a one-year ban after that ball tampering saga in South Africa in 2018.

India was in a good position in the match, and Virat Kohli was batting at the other end. Suddenly, Indian fans started disrespecting the Australian star. Virat Kohli asked the crowd to support him instead of booing and disrespecting him.
