Indian Team announced for Badminton World Junior Championships

The Badminton Association of India on Wednesday revealed the Indian team for the next BWF World Junior Championship, and Unnati Hooda and Tara Shah made the cut.

From July 26 to July 29, the final recruitment trials were held at the Karnail Singh Railway Grounds in New Delhi. The BWF World Junior Championship is slated to take place in Spokane, Washington, from September 25 to October 8, 2023.

A 14-person contingent was chosen, with four shuttlers for every of the men’s and women’s singles divisions, as well as two pairs in each of the doubles divisions.

For the boy’s singles division, Ayush Shetty, Tushar Suveer, Lokesh Reddy, and Nicholas Nathan Raj were chosen. Unnati Hooda, Tara Shah, Devika Sihag, and Shriyanshi Valishetty made a squad for the girl’s singles division.

Even though the Indian team is now placed 13th in the BWF positions, they will only be enabled to field three players in the singles division. The best three singles competitors, according to BAI, will take part.

In the men’s doubles, India will be represented by Nicholas Nathan Raj and Tushar Suveer, Divyam Arora and Mayank Rana, and others. Radhika Sharma and Tanvi Sharma, Vennala K, and Shriyanshi Valishetty were chosen for the women’s doubles competition.

Together with Sathwik Reddy and Vaishnavi Khadkekar, the mixed doubles team of Radhika Sharma and Samarveer, who made an impression at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships, will compete.

In the previous competition, S Sankar Muthuswamy fell in the boy’s singles finals to give India its one medal, the silver.
