Indian squash star Anahat Singh started the year 2023 on a winning note by clinching the Girls’ Under-15 squash title in the British Junior Open on Sunday. It is one of the most reputable tournaments of the season in Birmingham, U.K.
The Delhi girl Anahat Singh defeated Sohaila Hazem of Egypt in the final by 3-1 (11-8, 8-11, 11-7, 11-5). After this win, Anahat became the most successful Indian player in the British Junior Open.
The British Junior Open is held in January every year in the U.K. Here best players participate from all over the world to win the coveted title.
Anahat also represented India in the CWG at the same venue in August 2022. She has reached the finals in all 3 appearances at the British Junior Open. In 2019, Anahat won the Girls’ Under-11 title. She finished runners-up in 2020 in the Girls’ Under-13 category.
This year the British Open Junior was held after a gap of two years because of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was held from January 4-8, 2023.
At the beginning of 2023, Anahat Singh secured her first squash title, and she will now be preparing for the Asian Junior team championships to be held in Chennai in February 2023.
In December 2022, she has also won the Scottish Junior Open held in Edinburgh, Scotland in the Girls under 17 categories.
