The overwhelming positive feedback received by the Indian Gymnastics League (IGL) for Season 1 and Season 2 has motivated the launch of Season 3 this year. The Season 3 of IGL will be held at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex (Pune), from 6th to 8th of December 2019.
With the success of the previous two seasons and the participation of eminent gymnasts such as Rakesh Patra, IGL – Season 3 hopes to attract the participation of other leading gymnasts across the country to compete in this unique event.
This event will be hosted under the aegis of ‘RYP Invitational Sports Meet 2019’, which is held in the memory of Dr Ramesh Prabhoo. Dr Ramesh Prabhoo had envisioned to create a world-class sports infrastructure open to everyone at Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul (PTKS).
PTKS has grown from being a recreational facility to a first-class competition-ready setup where we can provide a first-class setup for athletes. Many of these athletes have gone on to make a mark in their sports at an international level.
The format this year remains the same as the previous two seasons, with four teams and eight gymnasts in each team, who will perform specific skills to earn points for their team.
To make this event exciting, the organizers have introduced concepts such as the ‘risky repeat’, which enables a team to allow its gymnast to repeat performance if he/she falters, with the risk of making a mistake again.
We are certain that the organizers have come up with more interesting ideas to make Season 3 of IGL a better experience for the audience and competitors alike. Make sure you don’t miss the mega event this year!
Events like IGL play a significant role in promoting the sport of gymnastics throughout the country. We urge the gymnastics community to offer its thorough support for this initiative, which will help to increase the popularity of this beautiful sport.
We hope to see you there and make this event a memorable experience once again.
