Dharun Ayyasamy booked his qualification for the Asian Championships after clinching the 400m hurdles in the second leg of the Indian Grand Prix in New Delhi on Wednesday. Four days back, in his previous performance in Patiala, he clocked 50.05 seconds.
His recent performance shows improvement as he clocked 49.94 seconds with 50 seconds as the qualifying time to clock ahead of Tamil Nadu statemates Santhosh Kumar and M. Ramachandran.

Big names like Hima Das and Jinson Johnson failed to turn up in this season’s opening competition of the Indian Grand Prix at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi. Ayyasamy Dharun is a promising Indian track athlete born on 31 December 1996. He is specialized in the 400 meters hurdles events.

Dharun Ayyasamy Records
Dharun took part in the 2016 Summer Olympics. He came into limelight after winning the silver medal in the 400 m hurdles in the Asian Games 2018 at Jakarta, Indonesia.
Last year, Ayyasamy made the national record at the Asian Games by becoming the second India to secure the spot at the Doha event in April.

Dutee Chand’s Second Gold Medal
Dutee Chand, a professional Indian women sprinter, also achieved the mark clocking 23.30 seconds. This was also the qualifying time set by the Athletics Federation of India in the 200m.
Dutee Chand is the current national champion in the women’s 100 meters event. Being the third Indian woman to qualify for the Women’s 100 meters event at the Summer Olympic Games, Dutee is truly a wonderful sprinter.

Dutee Chand is the reigning women’s 100m national champion from Odisha. The 23-year-old made history by becoming only the third women from the country to qualify for the Olympics. However, Chand failed to qualify in the competition. Last year, she managed to win silver at the Jakarta Asian Games, India’s first in the sport in over 32 years.
