India vs Pakistan Dream11 Prediction
The Old Trafford gets the honour of hosting one of the most intense games of the Cricket World Cup – India vs Pakistan. The two neighbours will meet on 16th June, for the 7th time, with India absolutely dominating the records like a rare football score, 6-0.
But before we start with the prediction, one important question that has been worrying everyone:
Will we even get to see India vs Pakistan match?
Long answer short: Yes. It seems that even the rain Gods want to see the epic rivalry unfold! Not that there won’t be any rains. But thankfully, it won’t be as significant that the entire match is abandoned.
Rain has affected as many as five contests this World Cup and hopefully the India vs Pakistan wouldn’t be one of them.
As for the match, it will be nonetheless a highly watched contest. India would be confident with the way in which the team has shaped up in the run in to the competition.
India started their 2019 Cricket World Cup campaign in style with back to back victories over South Africa and Australia. The first one, an easy 6-wicket victory against an underperforming South African side was unsurprising. Yuzvendra Chahal (4/51) shone in the first innings, helping India bowl the Proteas out for 227 while Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 122* on the other to help chase the total.
However, it was the latter against Australia that took away everyone’s attention. The defending champions had looked to be the team to beat, having won in the first two games.
India started the first innings on a confident note, with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma building a 100-run partnership. The former even went on to score a ton – his sixth in ICC events – to help India reach a competitive total of 352/5. The bowlers then executed their role to brilliance, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/50) and jasprit Bumrah (3/61) both staring in the second innings. The Kangaroos ultimately succumbed for 316/10, handing India a 36-run victory.
However, things may get a bit complicated for the Men in Blue here onwards, with injuries and challenging weather coming into picture. The finger injury to centurion Shikhar Dhawan complicates up the things for the Indians.
Pakistan may seem to be one of the easiest opponents on paper, but it isn’t the case whatsoever. Afterall, the Men in Green have an appetite to be one of the most unpredictable teams in the world and the same was seen in this World Cup as well. The team’s batting line-up capitualed for a mere 105 in the first match against West Indies. However, in the second, the same unit piled up 348/8 on a bowling pitch against the tournament favourites England. Even though they haven’t looked convincing against Australia, they can hurt any team on their day. The Indo-Pak rivalry bring out the best cricket from even the worst lineups!
While India’s bowling quartet of Bumrah-Chahal-Yadav-Bhuvneshwar are more than capable of taming the Pakistani batsmen, it will be at the other end that the Indians would have to be careful. Mohammad Amir has looked to have acclimatized with the English weather well, having picked up 10 wickets from three games. If the Men in Blue have to worry about one Pak cricketer, it is this pacer. Afterall, the pacer had a crucial role to play in the country’s defeat in the 2017 Champions Trophy finals.
India are the firm favourites to win this particular contest. They have looked excellent with the bat and clinical with the ball. Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (6) has shone in the opening games while pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the force to reckon with. There are serious doubts whether the Pakistani batsman would be able to stick around for too long. Moreover, India have an unparalleled record of winning 6 WC victories against their arch rivals. Do we need to talk more?
Predicted Winner: India
The Old Trafford ground has a dubious low-scoring ground. Add to that the two side’s in-form bowling attacks and it is not hard to predict that it would be a sub-260 game. The chances of it are more so if Pakistan bat first. If so happens, your strategy should be to choose 4-5 bowlers, 1-2 all-rounders and 3 batsmen. Moreover, the surface has a history of favouring the spinners. So Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav should be on the top of your list. Mohammad Amir is also a must have.
