Mithali Raj scored a half-century to help register India an easy 7-wicket win against Pakistan at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

It was yet again a jubilant day for the Indian Women Cricket Team as India beat Pakistan by seven wickets in their second group B match of the ICC Women’s World T20. Mithali Raj was the star player of the match and led the team towards victory with her smashing half-century.

India had won the toss and opted out to field against Pakistan in their second game of the ICC Women’s World T20. From the beginning of the game itself, the decision of going fielding first by captain Harmanpreet Kaur proved right as Pakistan lost three quick, early wickets. It was then a 94-run long, stable partnership between batswomen Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar landed the Pakistan team into a somewhere safe situation. Yet again, the imbalance started taking a toll and with a flurry of wickets in the final overs, Pakistan team finished on a score of 133/7. Indian side showed a kicking start right from the beginning and chased the target easily with just one over spare.

Both the women cricket teams have played with each other 10 times. Out of these matches, India was able to register eight wins, and Pakistan only two. Also, in T20 encounters, as they had registered three out of the five encounters against Pakistan.

Mithali is on a Roll!

Classy batswoman Mithali Raj displayed excellent batting skills. She hit 56 runs off 47 balls, thus leading her team towards a 7-wicket win in the second Group-B match.

India made a quick, strong start with Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj getting easy runs for the team. They were both being able to find frequent boundaries and took the team at 73 runs in 9 overs when Smriti got out. After that Jemimah Rodrigues joined Mithali but soon got out, just contributing 16 runs to the team.

Even before the Indian team came in for batting, there were 10 runs on their scoreboard as Pakistan were docked five runs in a two-times penalty. This penalty was charged after Pakistan’s batswomen were running on the danger area of the batting pitch.

India chased this target of 134 runs with just six balls remaining. While Mithali scored a half-century, Harmanpreet and Veda Krishnamurthy remained not-out at 14 and 8 runs, respectively.

Pakistan’s batting Game

After losing the toss, most of the Pakistani batswomen seemed struggling in front of the Indian bowlers. At a time, they were just 30 for 3 wickets down in seven overs.

It was then a strong partnership between Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar, which came to the team’s rescue. The duo collected 93 runs for the fourth-wicket with Bismah hitting a half-century.

India dropped three easy catches during Pakistan’s batting innings. But an outstanding run-out by Jemimah which sent Umaima Suhail back to the pavilion was the highlight of the match.

With this Sunday win over Pakistan, India has 4 points that will help them to reach semi-finals from the five-team Group B.

The Indian Women Cricket squad was already on a high after a 34-run win over New Zealand in their ICC Women’s World T20 campaign. The confident Indian team took this another dominant win over Pakistan.
