India made history at Asian Para Games by achieving a record-breaking tally of 82 Medals

Para-athletes of India made history on Thursday by clinching the highest number of medals in the Asian Para Games, bringing the country’s total to 82 medals, which includes 18 gold medals. This accomplishment surpasses the previous record of 72 medals attained during the 2018 edition in Indonesia. On Thursday, India secured an additional 18 medals, including three gold.

After four days of competition, India had a total of 18 gold, 23 silver, and 41 bronze medals in their tally. Unfortunately, India’s position in the medal ranking slipped two places to eighth due to a relatively low number of gold medals won on Thursday. South Korea and Indonesia moved ahead of India in the medal standings, with China leading the way with 156 gold, 128 silver, and 108 bronze medals. With two more days remaining in the Games, India remains on track to reach its goal of securing 100 medals in this edition of the Games.

Simran and Bhagyashri Madhavrao Jadhav both secured silver medals in their respective events. Simran completed the women’s T12 100m race in 26.12 seconds, while Jadhav excelled in the women’s F34 shot put, achieving a distance of 7.54 meters. Monu Ghangas earned a silver in the men’s F11 discus throw with an impressive throw of 37.87 meters. Narayan Thakur clinched a bronze in the men’s T35 100m, crossing the finish line in 14.37 seconds. Shreyansh Trivedi also claimed a bronze medal in the men’s T37 100m, posting a time of 12.24 seconds. Additionally, Muthuraja secured a bronze in the men’s F55 shot put with a throw covering a distance of 10.42 meters.
