The Indian Women’s Football Team clinched their second victory, defeating hosts Kyrgyz Republic 4-0 at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek, on Friday, to book qualification for Round 2 of the 2024 AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
India beat the hosts 5-0 in their first match earlier this week. Despite being down to 10 players in the first half itself, India wielded their supremacy over the Kyrgyz Republic. Sandhiya Ranganathan, Anju Tamang, and substitute Renu smashed a goal each.
The Blue Tigresses had a good start, and Sandhiya scored in the 18th minute, beating two defenders before scoring her shot past the rival goalkeeper.
India suffered a blow soon after when Karthika Angamuthu was sent off for an off-the-ball challenge on Kyrgyz captain Aizhan Boronbekova. However, that did not hinder the Indian team as Anju Tamang slammed it home on a half-volley, to double India’s lead in the 24th minute.
In the second half, Sandhiya soon scored her second goal. Dennerby again instructed some changes in the regulation time, as Renu, Michel Castanha, and Dangmei Grace replaced Indumathi, Sangita, and Sandhiya. The replacement yielded an instant result as Renu scored to make it 4-0.
