The Indian cricket team play their second Test against South Africa at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune 10th October onwards. Having won the first contest by a significant margin of 203 runs, the hosts will be in high spirits to seal the series with a win in the second. The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal scored to hand India a huge lead of 502 in the first innings. Although the visitors did their best to come back with the bat in the contest, the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ensured that wasn’t the case.

SA – Quinton de Kock, Dean Elgar, Keshav Maharaj.
|[icon name=”cloud” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Weather Condition||29 °C, 64% Humidity, Winds up to 8 km/hr. 82% Precipitation. The atmosphere in Pune looks anything but favourable to play Test cricket. Expect constant rain interruptions and possibly a complete washout.|
|[icon name=”circle” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Toss Advantage||The only Test that was played at this stadium was back in 2017, which Australia won by a huge margin of 333 runs, batting first.|
|Pitch Conditions||Like the classic Indian subcontinent pitches, the surface at Gahunje has a lot for the spinners. Although it was over two years ago, Australia won the contest solely on the basis of their spinners, with SNJ O’Keefe and Nathan Lyon scalping 17 of the 20 wickets. With the Proteas’ struggle against spin widely evident in the last game, Ashwin and Jadeja should be backed to rise to the occasion again.|

IND vs SA 2nd Test Dream11 Prediction 2019
The Indians rode heavily on centurions Rohit Sharma and Mayank Sharma’s brilliant show in the contest on their way to a comfortable 203-run victory over South Africa. This came as a surprise to many, as this was precisely the area where the management was most sceptical about. After all, Rohit Sharma, who was debuting in the opening slot for the first time, scored a duck in the warmup game against South Africa. In his own words, skipper Virat Kohli had stressed upon the fact that Rohit Sharma needed time to settle. “We are in no hurry with Rohit Sharma as opener. He will be given time and space to find his rhythm and the way he wants to play at the top,” he had said on the eve of the 1st Test in Visakhapatnam. However, fast forward to the 5th October, and the ‘Hitman’ had already scored two centuries and the ‘Man of the Match’ in the process.
Mayank Agarwal, who was brought in to pair up with Sharma in KL Rahul’s absence, also exceeded expectations by scoring a well-deserved double century. In fact, the duo of Sharma and Agarwal joined forces to record the highest partnership against South Africa. However, not all records were made with the bat. Ravindra Jadeja became the fastest Left-arm orthodox spinner to reach 200 Test wickets. However, it was the Ravichandran Ashwin’ record of displacing Theunis de Bruyn to become the joint-fastest to score 350 wickets Muttiah Muralitharan in just 66 that stood out of the crowd. It again underlined the fact that how invaluable the veteran spinner is for the Indian team, and also on how we haven’t treated him well.
The hosts will look to seal the deal in the second Test, if only the rain Gods allow…
India are the clear favourites here. Although Keshav Maharaj showed quite a profit, the Proteas clearly failed to use their bowlers to significant effect. The batsmen, on the other hand, were unsuccessful to play against the tricky Indian spin attack. With the momentum on their side, one can expect the hosts to win the second Test.
