The 38th match of the ICC World Cup 2019 will see India, the competition’s only unbeaten side, battle it out against hosts England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. India are only one point away from qualifying for the semifinals, having won five games on the trott. England, on the other hand, have a tricky situation at hands. Having won just 8 points from the 7 matches, the team will have to win the game on Sunday to ensure that the likes of Pakistan and Bangladesh (both at 7 points) don’t catch up.

IND vs ENG Dream11 Prediction

If there is one team in this World Cup that looks worthy of lifting the coveted trophy, it has to be India, the only unbeaten side in the competition. After having got a great start to their campaign, the Men in Blue (and soon-to-be Men in Orange!) appreciably built on their momentum. The resultant – they look a tenaciously competitive side now.

For quite a long time, the team’s batting has been their biggest strengths. Earlier, if the batsmen failed in their duties, the game was mostly considered better lost than won. However, the success of star bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Yuzvendra Chahal this season has made the world think otherwise. Jasprit Bumrah has developed a reputation for bowling that one super over which changes the complexion of the match. He is not less than a card of Ace for skipper Virat Kohli, who uses him in tense moments. Like in the game against Afghanistan and then against West Indies, Bumrah struck twice in a single over. It is not hard to deduce why he is arguably the best pacer in the ODIs at the moment.

Shami has been the World Cup’s surprise package, having picked up a stunning 8 wickets in mere two games he has played. What more, the bowler has also scalped a hat-trick in the short period.

As a result, with Bhuvneshwar now up and running, the selectors have a real selection headache at hands. Chahal, on the other hand, remains the country’s most successful bowler in World Cup 2019 as of now, having scalped 10 wickets.

While the bowling looks sorted out, it is the ever-present and monumental question that India will have to answer – Who will play at No.4? Not that it will affect their ability to win games, but a concrete answer will definitely make them more unbeatable. Vijay Shankar had impressed in his first match against Pakistan. However, his form with both the bat and the ball has not been up to the mark. And with quality replacements like Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant waiting in the dugout, it remains to be seen how long the young all-rounder will hold on to his spot.

It seems like a deja-vu but England are, once again, staring at another doomed World Cup campaign. The inventors of cricket, despite having a strong team, have failed to build on their momentum. The situation has reached such a level that the hosts have to win the remainder of the two games with Pakistan and Bangladesh just one point behind. And it is better said than done, since the two games are against India and New Zealand. Pakistan have a more realistic chance of progressing, since they only have Afghanistan and Bangladesh to take care of. It is this, that makes the game against India a must-win for England.

Predicted Winner

India will obviously have the upperhand over England going into the match for multiple reasons. One, they the momentum on their side. While the Men in Blue have won all the five games they have played, England have lost their last two matches. Second, the Edgbaston pitch has, this term, produced the most “subcontinent” like surface as compared to other venues, clearly providing an advantage to Indian spinners. Therefore ironically, India will feel more at home on Sunday than England playing-condition wise as well as in-terms of home support.

The team also dethroned England as the No.1 ODI team in the ICC ranking recently, another sign of the things to come. Nonetheless, England still remains one of the strongest teams on paper, and have the necessary firepower to beat India. Would the pressure get the better off the hosts?

Predicted Winner: India

Dream11 Hint

Jonny Bairstow, recently, brought a very important point to the fore pertaining to the playing conditions in the World Cup – the surfaces are not the same what they used to be before the competition. “None of the pitches throughout the whole tournament have been as true as they have been previously – whether that Pakistan series or last summer,” he told to the English media recently.

Edgbaston pitch is no different. It has turned out to be one of the most dry and spinner-friendly pitches in the World Cup so far, a fact that will surely make India’s spinners droll at. In fact,  according to Cricviz, a sports analysts, the ground has witnessed a turn of 4.05 degrees in the two matches it has hosted so far.

So the writing is pretty clear on the wall – choose 2-3 quality spinners in your side. And don’t be surprised if you see opponents making Yuzvendra Chahal their captain/vice-captain! All-rounders would be a worthy asset as well, especially the spinning ones. Also, choose batsman that can stick to crease for a long time.

Lastly, teams batting second have been successful in the two World Cup 2019 matches played here. So make changes to your team accordingly.
