BCCI has announced the squad for the remaining 2 Test matches against Australia Down Under. Hardik Pandya and Mayank Agarwal have been called up for the two Tests.
Opening batsman Prithvi Shaw, who had suffered a left ankle injury while attempting a catch in the practice game against CA XI has been ruled out of the ongoing Test series and Mayank Agarwal has replaced him.
Hardik Pandya proved his fitness by taking a 5 wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai. Playing for Baroda, the all-rounder returned with the figures of 5-81 which was enough to impress the National selectors. He had hurt his lower back during the Asia Cup earlier this year.

Mayank Agarwal has a fantastic domestic record but he has always been ignored by the team management. He was first selected for the England tour this year but Hanuma Vihari was chosen to play before him. He was later selected for the 2 Test matches against the Windies but again the youngster Prithvi Shaw got the nod before him.
Finally with Prithvi Shaw injured and the Indian openers – KL Rahul and Murli Vijay in a despicable for Mayank Agarwal should play the Boxing Day Test match starting 26 December at Melbourne.
India is also lacking the genuine all-rounder in the ongoing Test series with a huge tail following the wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Hardik Pandya might make a direct cut into the side for the 3rd Test.
India’s squad for the 3rd and 4th Test against Australia:
Virat Kohli (captain), M Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), Hanuma Vihari, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Parthiv Patel (wicket-keeper), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Mayank Agarwal
With the series poised 1-1, the Boxing day Test match will decide the fate of the series.
