Ind vs Aus 1st ODI Playing XI: Men in Blue All Set to Target Aussies Before World Cup 2019

After having lost the two T20I games against the Aussies mostly due to experimentation, Virat Kohli’s team India is all set to play a 5 match ODI series, starting tomorrow in Hyderabad against Australia.

These 5 are the last matches that India will play before the ICC World Cup that kickstarts in England from May end. Hence, Men in Blue will look to identify their chinks the armour if any, before the major tournament.

India vs Australia Predicted Playing XI:

Virat Kohli, in the T20 games, played KL Rahul in both of those while Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma once each along with Rahul. The same is expected in the ODI’s too. Rahul will get to play the complete 5 matches-series to prove himself before the World Cup.

Ambati Rayudu is India’s number 4 who will play the World Cup. However, coach and mentor Ravi Shastri hinted on Virat playing at 4 while Rahul batting at 3. This looks too far fetched as of now.

Another youngster who is for sure getting an opportunity is Rishabh Pant. Indian batting is lacking the power hitting capability that many cricketing countries like England and New Zealand possess. Rishabh Pant provides the team that very thing that the team needs.

The bowling department

In the bowling squad, not a big change is expected. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has been given a rest for the first two matches so Mohammad Shami will be the obvious choice.

The all-rounder’s spot is up for a grab in this series. Ravindra Jadeja has replaced the injured Hardik Pandya while Vijay Shankar is also in the squad. Vijay Shankar might get an opportunity but it would be decided on the playing conditions in Hyderabad tomorrow.

Predicted Playing XI:

India: Rohit Sharma / Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli (c), Ambati Rayadu, MS Dhoni (wk), Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar/ Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

India will obviously go in favourites. Even though Australia has the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch, they are still missing their key batters – Steve Smith and David Warner who will be back from the ban before the World Cup.
