In a thriller India vs Australia 1st T20I, the Indian Cricket Team lost to the Aussies by 3 wickets on Sunday in Visakhapatnam.
Australia needed 14 to win off the last over. Umesh Yadav had the ball. Pat Cummins took a single off the first ball. Jhye Richardson moved across the stumps and hit the ball past deep mid for a four. Now with 9 needed off four balls, Richardson took a couple of the next ball. A low full toss and Richardson squeezed a single giving Cummins the strike. Another low full toss but this time Cummins backed away and stroked it past cover for a four.
With two required off the last ball, the duo managed to scamper back for a brace, thereby winning the game by 3 wickets.

Ind vs Aus 1st T20I: As it happened
India batted first. The team management decided to give as much game time possible to KL Rahul as he is the potential backup opener for the World Cup, so Shikhar Dhawan was rested. Rohit Sharma and Rahul opened the innings. Rohit couldn’t make much. He made only 5 (8).
-- Advertisement --Captain Kohli along with Rahul stitched together a partnership of 55. Kohli fell to Adam Zampa. He made 24 (17). Rishabh Pant was run out for 3 (5). Dinesh Karthik whose place for the World Cup is in question made only 1 (3). Krunal Pandya didn’t trouble the scorers. He made 1 (6).
Only KL Rahul made a half-century. He made 50 off 36 balls which included 6 boundaries and a six. MS Dhoni remained not out on 29 off 37 balls. India could only make 126/7 in their 20 overs.

For Australia, Nathan Coulter Nile picked the most 3 wickets while Jason Behrendorff, Adam Zampa and Pat Cummins picked up a wicket each.
Australian Innings
Needing only 127 to win, Australia had a disastrous start. The Aussies lost Marcus Stoinis and captain Aaron Finch for only 5 on the board. Glenn Maxwell and D’Arcy Short stitched together a brilliant partnership of 84, taking the match away from India. Maxwell fell to Yuzvendra Chahal for 56 (43) and then began Australia’s downslide.

The Kangaroos lost D’arcy Short (37), Aston Turner (0), Peter Handscomb (13), Nathan Coulter Nile in quick succession. Australia was reeling at 113/7 in the 19th over. Bumrah bowled a brilliant 19th over but it was Umesh Yadav’s last over when Aussies needed 14 of it, they achieved it, winning the game by 3 wickets.
For India, Bumrah took 3 wickets becoming the only second Indian bowler after R Ashwin to pick up 50 T20I wickets. Chahal and Krunal Pandya picked up a wicket each. Debut Mayank Markande went wicketless. He gave 31 runs in his 4 overs.
