Experienced Indian hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh is adopting a step-by-step approach regarding his future plans. PR Sreejesh expressed that he will assess the situation following the conclusion of the Asian Games in China, scheduled for September-October.
Having begun his international career for India in 2006, the 35-year-old goalkeeper is on the brink of reaching 300 international matches. In the ongoing Asian Champions Trophy (ACT), Sreejesh is currently splitting the goalkeeping responsibilities with Krishan Bahadur Pathak.
In response to a question regarding whether he may appear in another ACT, Sreejesh said,
“At this age, better don’t ask me about the next two years. It’s all about the next one. I am at the Asian Games, and after that, I’ll see how things happen. I will take it one tournament at a time.”
The upcoming edition of the ACT, held every two years, is still awaiting an announcement regarding its location and schedule. PR Sreejesh, who has participated in numerous matches against Pakistan as a part of the Indian team, intends to remain grounded despite the significant victory.
