India achieved a historic victory over England with a remarkable 434-run margin in the third Test of the five-match series held at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, now named Niranjan Shah Stadium, in Rajkot on Sunday. Notably, Rohit Sharma’s Team India made history by becoming the first team to declare an innings against England in the ‘Bazball era.’ In pursuit of a challenging target of 557 runs, England’s batting lineup collapsed, losing eight wickets in the final session and ultimately getting dismissed for 122 on the fourth day in Rajkot. This victory marked India’s most significant Test win in terms of runs, and it stands as England’s second-largest Test defeat since their 562-run loss to Australia in 1934.

Ravindra Jadeja earned the player of the match accolade for his outstanding performance, claiming seven wickets in the Test and scoring 112 runs in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the left-handed opener, showcased brilliance with a remarkable 214 off 236 balls, contributing significantly to India’s second-innings total of 430-4 before declaring. Despite facing back pain and retiring hurt on day three after reaching 104, Jaiswal returned in the morning session, achieving his second consecutive double century with a single off Root, celebrating exuberantly.

During his innings, Jaiswal hit a record-tying 12 sixes, including three consecutive shots over the fence off James Anderson, a notable feat for the experienced bowler with 696 wickets in 185 Tests. This achievement brings Jaiswal on par with former Pakistan great Wasim Akram, who also hit 12 sixes in an innings against Zimbabwe in 1996. Notably, Jaiswal forged substantial partnerships, including an unbeaten 172-run alliance with debutant Sarfaraz Khan, who scored 68, marking his second half-century of the match.
