India’s star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, has encountered a significant setback, as he will not be able to return to cricket until at least January of the following year. This update about Hardik Pandya has been confirmed by a BCCI source to the Times of India (TOI). Consequently, the 30-year-old is now expected to make his comeback in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Previous reports had suggested that Hardik might be available for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in mid-January, but the latest developments indicate otherwise.
India is scheduled to play a five-match Test series against England at home, starting on January 25 and concluding on March 7. Due to his history of injuries, Hardik Pandya is no longer part of India’s red-ball squad. Therefore, even if he recovers by February, his chances of participating in professional cricket during that series are minimal.

Last month, Hardik Pandya suffered a ligament tear in his ankle during India’s World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh. As a result, he has been absent from the game, leaving the Indian team without a reliable sixth-bowling option throughout the tournament.
Furthermore, Hardik Pandya has been serving as the captain of the Indian cricket team in T20 Internationals (T20Is) since 2022 and was expected to lead the team in the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Caribbean. However, with his recent injury setback, the situation has become uncertain, and there are concerns regarding his availability and workload management. This has become a topic of discussion among cricket enthusiasts.
