Going Green: BCCI to Plant 42,000 Saplings as GT vs CSK Qualifier 1 Delivers 84 Dot Balls

In a remarkable environmental pledge, BCCI has undertaken to plant 500 saplings for every dot ball during the IPL 2023 playoff stage. During Qualifier 1, where Chennai Super Kings clashed with Gujarat Titans, the green initiative was prominently featured through special graphics on the screen, representing each dot ball with a symbolic tree icon.

In an exciting start to the playoffs, Chennai Super Kings, four-time champions, secured a 15-run victory over defending champions Gujarat Titans, earning their spot in the finals. Throughout that IPL match, a total of 84 dot balls were bowled, prompting the BCCI’s green initiative to come into play and as part of this initiative, 42000 saplings will be planted, and this effort will continue until the grand finale.

Making the announcement on Twitter, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated,

“We are proud to partner @TataCompanies in planting 500 saplings for each dot ball in the @IPL playoffs. Qualifier 1 #GTvsCSK got 42,000 saplings, thanks to 84 dot balls. Who says T20 is a batter’s game? Bowlers’ it’s all in your hands #TATAIPLGreenDots 🌳 🌳 🌳.”

In a remarkable showdown, MS Dhoni‘s leadership guided his team to a resounding victory over Hardik Pandya‘s side. This crucial win propelled them to secure a spot in IPL 2023 finals and with this win, CSK managed to enter the finals for a record 10th time.
