Earlier Fitness Initiatives

The Fit India Movement is not the first time the government has undertaken a nation-wide fitness campaign. Apart from launching the International Yoga Day on 21 June 2015, the government had also come up with #HumFitTohIndiaFit campaign last year.

The initiative, launched by the then sports minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, encouraged people to share their fitness level by doing exercises such as push-ups.

After his video doing push-ups had gone viral on social media, many personalities including PM Modi, Virat Kohli, Hrithik Roshan, Saina Nehwal and Salman Khan had shared videos of them doing either exercises or yoga on social media.
