Amongst FICCI’s various initiatives to promote sports development in India, one of the focus areas is to promote the growth and sustainability of the Indian football industry. To take this agenda forward, FICCI has organized the 5th edition of FICCI “GOAL”, International convention on Football Business. The congregation is scheduled for 23 January 2018 in Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi.
FICCI GOAL 2018 – One of the biggest conclaves on Indian football
It seems that large scale business houses of India have taken the onus upon themselves to revive football in the country. As part of their bid to promote sports development, The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is set to conduct the 5th edition of GOAL – a one-day convention on the business of football.
India’s largest international convention on the business of football, FICCI GOAL 2018, is also supported by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The conference aims to provide a platform for relevant global and domestic industry stakeholders to discuss the beautiful game in India. This year the agenda is to focus on the various business opportunities unfolding along with the rapid growth of the Indian football ecosystem.
The initiative was jointly established by FICCI and AIFF to support the development of the Indian football industry and promote strategic dialogue around the game. FICCI GOAL 2018 will look to build off of the success of its previous editions.
FICCI GOAL 2018 – Dialogues on Business and Future of Indian and Football sports industry
At the 2018 convention, there will be sessions with dialogue on the various pertinent topics in Indian football. This will also include a policy framework for the future and the business of football during the conclave.
Issues like promoting the game in educational institutions and creating a social change using football, the attraction the game holds for private sector in the country to invest, the betterment of women’s football are all expected to be taken up.
With India gaining global attention after hosting the FIFA U17 World Cup, eminent speakers from the football fraternity will also be involved a strategic discussion on how to harness the momentum the game has gained after hosting the showpiece event last October.
The gathering will be witnessed by several high-profile names gracing the convention. The likes of Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Rahul Bhatnagar, Secretary-Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF, Deepak Jacob, President & General Counsel, STAR India & Chairman, FICCI Sports Committee, Richard Hood (Head of Player Development, AIFF), Vivek Sethia (CEO, Arsenal Soccer Schools India) will be addressing the gathering.
FICCI GOAL 2018 – An overview
FICCI GOAL, from its inception has been organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) with the support of the All India Football Federation (AIFF). This time around Star Sports is the Principal Partner with India on Track as Knowledge Partner.
Originally the convention was planned as FICCI GOAL 2017 on November 16, the day before the launch of the 2017/18 Indian Super League in Kolkata. The show had to be postponed as the FSDL (Football Sports Development Ltd) the company established to operate the Indian Super League, made a short notice venue switch taking the opener from Kolkata to Kochi.
