When it comes to Indian volleyball, Jimmy George is often regarded as one of the most famous volleyball players of India & of all time. He was born on March 8, 1955, in Peravoor, and died on November 30, 1987. He was a part of the Men’s Volleyball National Team. George made history by being the first Indian volleyball player to play professionally, and he represented an Italian professional volleyball team.

Jimmy was a member of India’s national volleyball squad in the Asian Games in Tehran (1974), Bangkok (1978), and Seoul (1986), when India won bronze. In 1986, he guided the Indian team to victory in the India Gold Cup International Volleyball Tournament in Hyderabad.

Famous Volleyball Players In India: A.Palanisamy

Palinasamy was a volleyball player from the Tamil Nadu state in India. On November 12th, 2007, he passed away. In the early 1960s, Palinasamy was a member of the national volleyball squad that competed in the Asian Games. Because of the intensity with which he moved on the court, especially at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta, he was dubbed Black Panther. In 1962, he was also awarded Asia’s best player. Palinasamy was the first player in this sports category to earn the Arjuna Award. After coaching the Sivaganga District in Tamil Nadu, he withdrew from volleyball in 1998.
