Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle expressed admiration for Tanveer Sangha’s performance in the Big Bash League (BBL) match between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers on January 8 in Sydney. The leg-spinner from Thunder showcased an impressive spell. He conceded only 14 runs in his four-over quota, achieving an outstanding economy rate of 3.50. Harsha Bhogle Bhogle, part of the commentary panel for the BBL game, lauded the 22-year-old’s bowling skills. He also endorsed him as a potential candidate for Australia’s Test team. Although Sangha, originally from Jalandhar, India, has represented Australia in white-ball cricket, he is yet to be called up for Test matches. Despite being named in the 2023 ODI World Cup squad, he did not have the opportunity to play in the prestigious tournament.

In the match, the Perth Scorchers won the toss and elected to field, putting Sydney Thunder in to bat. Cooper Connolly and Ashton Agar played crucial roles for the Scorchers, claiming 3/25 and 2/6 respectively. On the other hand, despite the challenges faced by other batsmen against the opposition’s bowling attack, Alex Hales contributed significantly for Sydney, scoring a rapid 72 off 55 balls. His innings included four boundaries and five sixes, helping his team reach a total of 137. In response, Zak Crawley, the Scorchers’ opener, played a pivotal role. He scored a half-century, making 58 off 56 deliveries with eight boundaries. The Scorchers successfully chased down the target with five balls to spare. Nathan McAndrew took two wickets for the Thunder, while captain Chris Green secured one scalp.
