Divyansh Singh Panwar Set New World Record, Bags Gold at ISSF World Cup

Indian shooter Divyansh Singh Panwar achieved a new world record in the men’s 10m air rifle finals, securing India’s second gold medal at the ISSF World Cup on Sunday. The 21-year-old scored 253.7 at the Egypt International Olympic City Shooting event, surpassing the previous record set by Chinese competitor Sheng Lihao (253.3) at the Asian Games in Hangzhou the previous year. Divyansh displayed exceptional skill by leading the qualification round with an impressive score of 632.4. In the final, he demonstrated precise shooting, finishing 1.9 points ahead of the silver medalist, Italian Dani Sollazo. Notably, all of Divyansh Singh Panwar’s shots in the final scored above 10, with two of them, the fourth and sixth, achieving a perfect 10.9.

Lazar Kovacevic from Serbia secured the bronze medal, while Arjun Babuta, the second Indian participant in the final, clinched the sixth position. This marked Divyansh’s fifth world cup stage gold overall and his second individual gold, the previous one being in Putian in 2019. With two gold and two silver medals, India is currently leading the standings in the first ISSF World Cup stage of the Olympic year.
