Delhi Capitals- 2019 IPL Auction Overview

Entering into the auctions, Delhi had the second biggest purse at hand, Having retained only 14 players. The one thing that DC needed to do was to fill in the big holes left by the departures of  Glenn Maxwell, Jason Roy, Mohammed Shami, and Liam Plunkett. In the 2019 IPL Auctions, Delhi Capitals went on to sign a mix of young and experienced foreign players in the form of Keemo Paul (WI’s T10 star wicketkeeper), Colin Ingram and Sherane Rutherford.

On the Indian front, they signed local-favourite Ishant Sharma to replace Mohammed Shami, which in our opinion is a steal considering he came at just ₹1.1 crore. Getting a player of his stature and experience of playing in foreign conditions at such a price is no less than a coup for the North Indian team.

They also picked some impressive domestic talented domestic like Bandaru Ayyappa and Nathu Singh towards the end. With other big names in international cricket like Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult also coming, it will be interesting to see if Delhi are finally successful in rectifying their poor show in IPL so far.
