Barring a few, Pakistani cricketers have never had it well with the Indian social media. Just ask Shahid Afridi! On Wednesday, however, another name got added to the list as Shoaib Malik was trolled heavily on Twitter.
The former Pak all-rounder had posted a tweet on the occasion of Christmas referring to a T20 victory over India 5 years ago. The photo shows Malik celebrating with Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni walking away.
Merry Christmas dosto ??
and a very happy 25th December ? pic.twitter.com/imtosyKgJU

And it was quite obvious that the controversial post would receive a lot of flak from the Indian side. The venomous post, however, surprised many since Shoaib and his wife, ace Indian tennis player Sania Mirza, are viewed as the symbols of peace between the two estranged nations.
Although he might have won many hearts in his homeland, Malik faced a lot of heat from the Indian fans. Here’s how the Twitterati reacted on Shoaib’s dig…

i feel pity looking at the way our neighbours celebrate on simple matters. they defeated us once on 25th december n still they celebrate it as one of their GREATEST achievements. but they can’t accept the fact they can’t win on us at ICC events.putiful lives ??♂️?#ShoaibMalik https://t.co/m09GO6vYgF

Cricket, Bollywood and politicians are the 3 things that divide and unite us with our neighbours. This back and forth banter is also something that we will witness for a long time to come. And as long as it’s light-hearted, it surely is fine, isn’t it?
