Indian opener Shafali Verma became the world’s number one player in the ICC Women’s T20 Rankings (batting) on Tuesday. She improved in her rankings after a fine show in the first two matches of the ongoing three-match series against South Africa in Lucknow.

Previously, Shafali grabbed the top position in ICC rankings during ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia last year. Her performance helped team India reach the knockout phase of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She overtook Australia’s Beth Mooney on Tuesday.
Latest ICC Rankings
Other Indian players- Deepti Sharma has improved by four places, she is now ranked 40th. Teenager Richa Ghosh registered a massive 59 place jump in her rankings, she is now standing at 85th position. All-rounder Harleen Deol has shown improvement in both batting and bowling rankings. She is up by 262 places to 99th in the batting list and up by 76 places to 146th in bowling rankings.
Left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad jumped from 34th to 25th position.
In the ODI rankings, Indian captain Mithali Raj has moved up by one place. She is now ranked at world number 8. This improvement in her rankings came after an unbeaten knock of 79. Whereas, Priya Punia has upgraded her rankings by five places to 53rd. Gayakwad is up by 8 places to 38th on the bowling list.
