The group comprises Qatar, Kuwait- the runner-up of the 2023 SAFF Championships, and the winner of the forthcoming match between Afghanistan and Mongolia.

India’s aspiration to qualify for the World Cup has received a significant boost due to their recent remarkable performances. Building on their success in the Intercontinental Cup and SAFF Championship, where they claimed consecutive victories, the team aims to carry this momentum into the Asian Cup and the World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

In the Intercontinental Cup final, Sunil Chhetri and his teammates displayed their prowess, defeating Lebanon 2-0 to clinch the prestigious title at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

India’s impressive displays on the field have resulted in the country breaking into the top 100 of the FIFA World Rankings.

Additionally, the sports ministry’s decision to relax its internal rule allows the national football teams to compete at the Asian Games 2023 without being among the top 8 teams in the continent.
