Former India doubles shuttler Jwala Gutta urged India’s sports fraternity on Monday to “come out and condemn the violence” as the protests against the amended citizenship act swept across the country.
Jwala also called her peers “peace ambassadors”, in the post. “A request to all my fellow athletes ??” she tweeted with the video message.

“We are seeing the news and a lot of people are dying and I did not expect this. I request all the sportspersons of our country that we should come out and condemn violence,” Jwala was seen saying in the video.
“…violence against people and the people who are creating violence because we are the peace ambassadors of our country to the world and I think this is the least we could do. Come out and condemn violence,” the 36-year-old added.
This comes at the back of appeal for peace by another sportsperson, cricketer Harbhajan Singh.
“All I am saying is maintain the peace..this should stop it’s not doing good for anyone.i am sure there is a other way to solve this issue rather then being violent.. it’s a request to you all students and police and authorities,” Harbhajan had tweeted.

This was followed by another tweet, taking a dig at the protesters.
“Suraj mein ek alag si garmi nazar aai,Hawa bhi apna rukh badalne lagi. Jinhone mulk ke liye ek tinke ka kaam nahi kiya aaj wo ek mulk ke wafadar se badzubani karne lage #jaihind” his tweet read.
