BWF World Championships 2023: Full List of Matches of Indian Players

A two-time Olympic medalist, PV Sindhu along with the men’s doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, received first-round byes in the BWF World Championships 2023 draw held on Thursday. The prestigious event is scheduled to take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, spanning from August 21 to 27.

Sindhu, the champion of the 2019 women’s singles world championship, has received a challenging competitor in the draw. There is a possibility that she will confront Ratchanok Intanon from Thailand and the top-seeded An Se Young from Korea. These players are all placed in the top half of the draw.

Among the Indian contingent, Sindhu stands as the sole representative in the women’s singles event. On a different note, the men’s doubles pair consisting of Satwik and Chirag, who secured a bronze medal at the World Championships, attained an all-time high world ranking of number 2 just last month. Their achievement was marked by a victory in the Korea Open, and they are currently showcasing exceptional form.

HS Prannoy, who is in great form, leading India’s challenge in the men’s singles category as the second seed in the upcoming event. His initial opponent will be Kalle Koljonen from Finland. Additionally, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth, the other Indian contenders in the men’s singles, are set to compete against Georges Julien Paul from Mauritius and Kenta Nishimoto from Japan respectively in their opening-round matches.
