Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu climbs up to World No.2 ranking in the latest badminton rankings, as released on Thursday.
The Rio Olympic silver medallist jumped one place from her spot but still stays behind Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying, who continues to rule the chart rankings.
Earlier, Sindhu had achieved the No.2 ranking for just a week in April last year but soon slipped down. She came down to No.3 ranking and held that spot for the most part of 2018.
Saina Nehwal also saw an upsurge in her rankings by reaching the No.9 position, after reaching the final of the Denmark Open last week.
In the men’s singles category, Indian star player Kidambi Srinath maintained his position to World No.6. Also, Sameer Verma jumped five spots from his position to reach the 18th spot.
Other than these, Sai Praneeth is at the 26th place, while Sourabh Verma made a jump of two places to reach the 48th spot.
The women’s doubles pair also saw an improvement by three spots to be at 24th. Men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty slipped down to one spot to be at 25th position.
In mixed doubles, Pranav Jerry Chopra and Sikki remained upright at 21st place.
