Indian fast bowling sensation Jasprit Bumrah who made the Australian batsmen run for their money in the recently concluded Test series have been rested for the ODI series against Australia and the limited overs series against New Zealand.
Mohammad Siraj has been included in the 3 match ODI’s against Australia and Siddharth Kaul takes Bumrah’s place in the 3 matches T20I series against New Zealand.

Jasprit Bumrah was the leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded Test series. He claimed 21 Australian wickets at a very impressive average of 17. He bowled 157.1 overs in the 4 match Test series – far greater than Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami.
“Keeping in mind the workload of the bowler, it was best felt to give him adequate rest ahead of the home series against Australia. Mohammed Siraj will replace Bumrah in the squad for the Australia and New Zealand tour. Siddarth Kaul has also been drafted into the squad for the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand,” BCCI said in its press release.
Mohammad Siraj picked up 7 wickets in the last Ranji Trophy game against Punjab. He was also in good form against New Zealand A. Whereas, Siddharth Kaul had picked up 10 wickets in his last two games against Kerala and Hyderabad. He picked up 7 wickets in 3 matches against New Zealand A.
The ODI series against Australia starts on 12th January at Melbourne and ends on 18th January. India is all set to play New Zealand for 5 ODIs starting 23rd January.
