Bihar government honors 400 athletes and 11 coaches in Khel Samman Samaroh

The Bihar government, on Tuesday, honored 400 athletes and 11 coaches across 42 diverse fields during an event. The felicitation event took place as the ‘Khel Samman Samaroh’ ceremony, which was orchestrated by the Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA) and the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth. This event was held to celebrate National Sports Day, which commemorates the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand, renowned as the ‘Wizard of Hockey’. The awardees were presented with medals, monetary rewards, and certificates for their accomplishments.

The Bihar Art, Culture, and Youth Department Minister, Jitendra Kumar Rai, officially commenced the occasion. During the event, he revealed the new BSSA website and underlined the state government’s unwavering dedication to promoting overall advancement in the sports sector by providing extensive backing. A noteworthy assembly of 411 individuals, inclusive of 400 athletes and 11 coaches spanning 42 diverse fields, received recognition through certificates and monetary rewards surpassing Rs 4.24 crore at the function. Among these, 6 women and 11 men secured medals internationally, whereas 221 men and 162 women earned commendations at the domestic level.

Speaking at the event, Harjot Kaur Bamrah, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Art, Culture, and Youth Department, discussed the upcoming advancements in sports infrastructure within the region. She unveiled the intentions to build modern stadiums, advanced fitness centers, and Eklavya hubs throughout the state of Bihar.
