Bhowneesh Mendiratta bagged India’s first 2024 Paris Olympics quota place in shooting after he finished fourth in the men’s trap competition at the ISSF Shotgun World Championship in Osijek, Croatia. However, Bhowneesh missed a world championship medal narrowly in the process.
The 23-year-old from Faridabad, secured the Paris Olympics quota for the country after he topped the second-ranking round match with an amazing 24 out of 25 hits.
He was lined up with American Derrick Mein, Briton Aaron Heading, and Qatari R H Al-Althba in the second-ranking round match. Derrick Mein finished second, whereas Al-Athba and Heading were sixth and eighth in qualification respectively.
Bhowneesh completed his final qualification round with a perfect 25/25 and finished with a score of 121.
India did not perform well in the Women’s Trap as Neeru finished 29th with a score of 111, Shreyasi 35th with 110, and Manisha Keer finished 61st overall with 102 after the five 25-shot rounds in qualification.
