Neeraj Said:

“I am training hard and feeling good. I feel I am yet to perform to the best of my abilities. I also get a feeling that this is the best prepared I have ever been. It will get better in the days to come. Competition will be tough. A young German has recently cleared 90m. And I will be defending my title. I enjoy this competition.”

Additionally present during the occasion was Abhinav Bindra, the inaugural Indian athlete to secure an individual gold medal at the Olympics. Bindra discussed the preparations athletes undergo and strategies for managing pressure. He emphasized the inevitability of pressure, stating that while it may be disliked, athletes must acknowledge and accept it. According to Bindra, athletes need to develop the ability to coexist with pressure, emphasizing the importance of acceptance and adaptability in navigating high-pressure situations.

Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual gold medalist at the Olympics said:

“There will be pressure. Nobody likes it. The point is you have to accept it. An athlete has to learn to coexist with pressure and find out a way to work with it. That can come only with acceptance and adaptability.”

The current javelin champion from the Tokyo Olympics, who aspires to repeat success in Paris, is presently undergoing rigorous training in South Africa with support from the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) provided by the Sports Authority of India.
