It was a landslide debut for Suraj Desai, the sibling of Siddharth Desai, having broken the all-time mark for most debut points – 18 – at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday. What better, the raider shattered his brother’s record of 15 points. However, the extraordinary performance wasn’t enough to salvage a victory for the Telugu Titans, as Dabang Delhi K.C. ran away with a close 34-33 victory in what was this season’s most entertaining fixture.
Telugu Titans started well, and debutant Suraj Desai was at it from the start itself. He scored 2 touch points in his first raid itself in VIVO Pro Kabaddi. However, the visitors came back from behind to nullify the start. This would be the theme of the evening with both the teams taking lead, only to give it away.
The Desai brothers were on the top of their game throughout the proceeding, brilliantly trying to nullify Naveen Kumar’s stunning show. The game reached a level where Telugu Titans trailed by just two in the final few seconds of the contest, when the star of the show Suraj Desai jumped in for a buzzer raid. However, veteran Ravinder Pahal demonstrated his experience by putting in an advanced tackle. As a result, this allowed only a solitary point for the raider, confirming a hard-earned victory for the side.
Nonetheless, it was an ecouraging sign for the Titans, who now have to build upon the lethal pair of the Desai brothers. Could this be the making of a legendary duo?
