It is well said that batters win matches, but bowlers win the whole tournament, whether it is IPL, T20WC, Test Cricket, or any format of the game. Your bowling performance defines your team’s journey most often. Here in this article, we have a ranking of (1–10) of the strongest bowling line-ups of IPL 2024. We have used five conditions (quality bowling options, variety, PP bowling, death bowling, and backups) to rank the best bowling attacks.
The number one team will be the one that fits all the conditions, and the last one will be the one that lacks all these conditions.
Best Bowling Attacks for IPL 2024

|Kolkata Knight Riders
|Royal Challengers Bangalore
With the addition of Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians is the number one bowling attack in IPL 2024. They have Jasprit Bumrah, who is master at every phase of the game; Gerald Coetzee and Dilshan Madushanka will join him to bowl in power play and death as well. They also have good backups for these bowlers.
They also sharpen their spin bowling department with the services of Shreyas Gopal, a young Indian leg spinner. Mumbai Indians is the team that ticks all the boxes; that’s why they are at number one on our list.

The second-best bowling line-up for IPL 2024 belongs to the Gujarat Titans; they could have been at number one, but the lack of their former skipper Hardik Pandya, who offers a quality fast bowling option, is the reason they are at number two on our list. GT has a good mixture of experience and young, talented bowlers.
Their spin department is led by Rashid Khan, followed by Noor Ahmed and R. Sai Kishor. They have all the bases covered; that’s why they are at number two.
RR have the best spin bowling attack in the tournament without doubt, and their fast bowling is also top-notch because all Indian fast bowlers have the ability to bowl closer to 145 on a consistent basis; even their backups are first-class. Their bowling attack is also very adaptable and has variety.
But their death bowling could be an issue for them because they don’t have any specialist death bowler in their lineup, but overall, they are in perfect shape.
Chennai Super Kings
In CSK, it does not matter if you are a big name or a new face; their skipper, Mahi, always finds a way to win the matches. If all the bowlers remain fit, then they also cover all the conditions. Deepak Chahar and Mukesh Choudhary are quality options for power play; Matheesha Pathirana will be their death bowler; and spinners like Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja are in the playing eleven.
They have plenty of adaptable options as well. They have given another quality seam option with the acquisition of Shardul Thakur in the bowling attack.
Lucknow Super Giants
Their last season was just horrible in terms of bowling because most of their fast bowlers, like Mark Wood, were out of the IPL, and some of their other bowlers were struggling with form and fitness. If they can cover those things, there are slight chances they could be one of the best bowlers in the IPL 2024 because they have variety and adaptability in their bowling, and most of their fast bowlers often bowl over 140.
They also have Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya as spin options, and they have plenty of off-spin options. Overall, LSG has got real depth in their bowling.
They brought in Australian skipper Pat Cummins as a back-of-length fast bowler, but he has also been struggling with his T20 form for the past few years. KKR benched him after horrible stats in the 2022 edition. But they have quality fast bowlers and have backups for them, and their bowling attack is also very adaptable.
Their spinners are also looking solid, with the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga and Washington Sundar. Most of the things in their bowling attack are looking great, so it will be interesting to see how they perform in the upcoming season.
Kolkata Knight Riders
In the auction, they accumulated the most expensive IPL player in history, Mitchell Starc, at 24.75 crores in order to fix their power play bowling and death bowling because last season they were going at 9.8 runs per over in power play and at death, their economy was 10.8 per over. Their spinner bowling is one of the best in the league.
The form of their fast bowlers will also be an issue because Vaibhav Arora will be in its second season, and history shows that the second season for any player is always the toughest, and Chetan Sakariya has been on the bench for the last two seasons and hasn’t played much in the IPL.
Talking about Mitchell Starc, he is a big name, but when you look at his T20 records and form in the last two years, they are just horrible. Experience is another major concern for KKR; only Starc is an experienced campaigner.
Punjab Kings are at the 8th position on our list because they have very few Indian fast bowling options to complement Arshdeep Singh. They acquired Harshal Patel in the IPL 2024 auction, but his bowling style might not suit the conditions at Mohali, so adaptability is a huge issue with the Punjab Kings.
Their powerplay bowling is quite good with the services of Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh; death bowling is their other problem. They have only one quality spinner in the form of Rahul Chahar.
Delhi Capitals released a bunch of bowlers like Mustafizur Rahman, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Chetan Sakariya, so their Indian bowling contingent is looking a bit weaker even though they have quality Indian bowlers like Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed. The lack of all-rounders is also affecting their sixth bowling option.
Their overseas pace factory has good options, like Anrich Nortje and Jhye Richardson. Their spin bowlers are also quality bowlers, but DC is short of backups for them.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
After releasing their start with bowlers like Harshal Patel and Josh Hazelwood, RCB’s management tried their best in the auction, but they could not buy big bowlers like Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins because of their low budget. They brought back-of length bowlers like Alzarri Joseph and Lockie Ferguson to complete their fast-bowling attack, but their death bowling remains their concern, like last season, when they were leaking runs at an economy rate.
But they don’t have any quality spinners in their squad; they only have Karn Sharma, and he will be endorsed by someone like Glenn Maxwell with his handy off-spin bowling. RCB is also lacking backups in their bowling attack.
