In a stern warning, popular Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia cautioned against sharing a morphed photo of fellow wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Sangeeta Phogat. The manipulated photo portrays these wrestlers smiling while in police custody. Punia condemned the actions of the “IT cell” and vowed to file a complaint against individuals spreading the morphed picture on social media.
Yesterday, Delhi Police apprehended numerous wrestlers and their supporters as they attempted to march towards the new Parliament building. Their objective was to demand the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the chief of the WFI, on allegations of sexually harassing female wrestlers, including a minor. The wrestlers had organized a women’s ‘Mahapanchayat’ on Sunday, which had not obtained the necessary permission.
Bajrang shared two pictures on Twitter: one manipulated and the other authentic. In the genuine photo, the Phogat sisters and other wrestlers in custody have serious expressions, whereas the edited picture portrays them smiling. Bajrang Punia tweeted,
“IT cell people are spreading this fake picture. We make it clear that a complaint will be filed against whoever posts this fake picture,”
