Asian Wrestling Championships: Indian wrestlers shines- Antim Panghal wins silver, 4 others take bronze!

A young Indian wrestler, Antim Panghal ended her campaign with a silver medal in her debut Asian Wrestling Championships after losing to the formidable Akari Fujinami of Japan in the 53kg title clash. Meanwhile, 4 other Indian wrestlers bagged bronze medals on Wednesday.

Anshu Malik (57kg), Sonam Malik (62kg), Manisha (65kg), and Reetika (72kg) bagged medals for India, winning their bronze medal bouts. Panghal gave a good account of herself in the championship as she produced some great performances and reached the summit clash.

The talented wrestler Anshu showed supremacy and won by technical superiority over Mongolian Erdenesuvd Bat Erdene to bag a bronze in the 57kg event. Whereas, Sonam, got defeated in the quarterfinal against Orkhon Purevdorj, and get back into the competition after the Mongolian reached the final. She secured a 5-1 victory over China’s Xiaojuan Luo in her bronze medal match. In this tournament, Indian wrestlers have grabbed a total of 7 medals- 2 silver and 5 bronze.

Reetika too emerged victorious by a similar margin against Uzbek Svetlana Oknazarova. Meanwhile, Manisha recorded a victory by fall win over Albina Kairgeldinova from Kazakhstan.
