Indian rowers have secured two additional bronze medals at the ongoing Asian Games in China. On Monday, in the men’s fours event in Hangzhou, Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar, and Ashish Goliyan clinched a bronze medal.
Furthermore, in the men’s quadruple sculls team event, Satnam Singh, Parminder Singh, Jakar Khan, and Sukhmeet Singh claimed third place on the podium with a time 6:08.61. They finished behind Uzbekistan (6:04.64) and the gold medal-winning team from China (6:02.65).
In the men’s fours event, despite being in fourth place at the final 500 meters of the 2000m race, the team showcased remarkable synchronization and secured a third-place finish with a timing of 6:10.81s. They were narrowly edged out by China, who clocked 6:10.04, by a slim margin of seconds.
Indian rower Balraj Panwar narrowly missed his chance to secure a first-ever Asian Games medal, concluding in the fourth position in the men’s single sculls event. Despite being in the top three at the 1500-meter mark, the 24-year-old athlete from Karnal faced a setback in the final 500 meters, ultimately finishing fourth with a time of 7:08.79s. He fell short by less than nine seconds behind Hong Kong’s Hin Chun Chiu, who secured the bronze medal with a time of 7:00.55.
