Asian Games: Despite Loss, Indian Women’s Squash Team Clinches Semifinal Spot & Medal Certainty

Asian Games: The Indian women’s squash team secured a minimum of a bronze medal, even though they suffered a 0-3 defeat against Malaysia in their last pool B match at the Asian Games on Thursday. Both Malaysia and India occupied the first and second positions in their pool, earning them spots in the semifinals, where they are guaranteed at least a bronze medal. In squash, the two losing semifinalists also win bronze.

Joshna Chinappa, an experienced player, suffered a loss with scores of 6-11, 2-11, and 8-11, against Subramaniam Sivasangari. In the subsequent match, Tanvi Khanna, after initially leading 2-1, faced defeat at the hands of Aifa Binti Azman, the Commonwealth Games gold medalist, with a final scoreline of 9-11, 11-1, 7-11, 13-11, and 11-5.

In the final match, Anahat Singh, a 15-year-old player, faced a defeat against Malaysia’s Rachel Mae Arnold in straight sets (7-11, 7-11, 12-14). Prior to this, the Indian team had emerged victorious in their initial three matches against Pakistan (3-0), Nepal (3-0), and Macau (3-0).
