Key Challenges of Indian swimming team at the Asian Games

  • China stands as the prominent contender in Asian swimming, and they are poised to be the formidable squad to challenge at the upcoming Asian Games.
  • Japan and South Korea are also strong swimming nations, and they will be challenging India for medals.
  • The Indian squad possesses a comparatively youthful composition, and they must surpass their lack of experience to secure medals successfully.

Despite these challenges, the Indian swimming team will strive for medals at the Asian Games. Swimming has been an integral part of the Asian Games Programme since its inaugural edition held at New Delhi, in 1951. During that event, Sachin Nag won the 100-meter freestyle event to become the first-ever gold medallist at the Asian Games.
