Despite a few noteworthy omissions Asian Athletics Championships 2023, India’s athletics team will aim to put on a spectacular performance at the Asian Athletics Championships. This Championship commences on 12th July, Wednesday in Bangkok, Thailand. The tournament’s whole anticipation has been overshadowed by pull-outs and drug concerns.

Previously, shot putter Karanveer Singh didn’t pass the drug test, and quarter-miler Anjali Devi was also discovered doping. While these two competitors were detected doping, Muhammed Anas Yahiya, the national record holder in the quarter-mile, was unable to compete owing to a late application submitted to the Asian Athletics Association.

Global season leader long jumper Jeswin Aldrin, triple jumper Praveen Chitravel (Asia’s greatest this year), and medal hope javelin thrower Rohit Yadav withdrew from the regional event due to their injuries.

Murali Sreeshankar will be eager to compete in the men’s long jump. Tajinder Pal Singh Toor will compete in the men’s shot put, hoping to break his Asian mark. India’s hopes in both javelin competitions will be DP Manu and Annu Rani. And despite Rohit Yadav’s withdrawal, India will be striving for a medal in the javelin. Jyothi Yarraji, the Asian leader for the year with an individual record of 12.84 seconds in the 100m hurdles, will be making her continental appearance.
