Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, recreates his father’s feat by scoring his maiden century on his Ranji Trophy debut on Day 2 of the match against Rajasthan. Back in December 1988, Sachin Tendulkar scored a century on his Ranji Trophy debut. Arjun replicated his father’s feat and smashed the century for Goa on Wednesday. He has stunned the fans with his first-class century and the sheer coincidence. The 23-year-old previously played white-ball cricket for Mumbai and recently shifted from Mumbai to Goa for gaining more opportunities.
Arjun registered 200 runs with fellow cricketer Suyash Prabhudesai. After 140 overs, Goa had accumulated 410 runs, with Arjun batting on 112 runs. Arjun smashed 15 fours and 2 sixes, displaying a stellar performance.
Junior Tendulkar made his U-19 debut for India in 2018 against Sri Lanka. Arjun is considered a bowling all-rounder and has been part of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL but is yet to play a game. He was selected during the IPL 2021 auction but was excluded due to injury. However, Mumbai Indians reacquired Arjun at the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Moreover, Arjun played two matches for Mumbai in the 2020-21 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and picked up two wickets against Manipur. Arjun trained under Yograj Singh, the father of veteran all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.
