Agarwalla, who also clinched an individual bronze during the Hangzhou Asian Games in September 2023, earned the quota based on his notable performances in four FEI events held in Wroclaw, Poland (73.485%), Kronenberg, Netherlands (74.4%), Frankfurt, Germany (72.9%), and Mechelen, Belgium (74.2%). The allocated quota is the country’s, and the final decision on the representative for the Paris Olympics will be determined through a conclusive trial conducted by the National Federation before submitting the selected name to the organizers.

Fouaad Mirza, who participated in the Tokyo Olympics, represented India in the 2020 Games. Prior to him, only Imtiaaz Anees (2000), Indrajit Lamba (1996), and Darya Singh (1980) had the opportunity to compete on the grand stage of international sports. In the discipline of Dressage, the rider-horse pair performs in a 20m x 60m arena, enclosed by a low rail that the horse must remain within. The arena features 12 lettered markers symmetrically placed, indicating the starting points, pace changes, and conclusion of movements. The Dressage competition comprises seven stages, namely preliminary, elementary, medium, advanced medium, advanced, Prix St George, and Intermediate-I. Scoring is conducted on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 denoting very poor performance and 10 signifying excellence.
