Anurag Thakur Appeals to Wrestlers to End Protest & Have Faith in Law & Order

On Sunday, Anurag Thakur, Sports Minister of India, requested protesting wrestlers to put an end to their demonstration and trust in the law and order system. He emphasized that the apex court has taken notice of the situation, and the Delhi Police are also recording statements.

Several renowned wrestlers staging a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar are alleging that WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh sexually harassed them and demanding his arrest.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur’s request comes after the ad-hoc committee formed to run WFI to took full control of the body as per the written directive from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

Union Minister Anurag Thakur has requested the wrestlers to trust the legal system and halt their demonstration, stating that the Supreme Court has intervened and the Delhi Police are gathering statements, Union sports minister told reporters,

“Supreme Court has given its judgement. Delhi Police has also registered an FIR and is recording statements. The magistrate is also registering statements. They must have faith in our law and order and end their protest,”

The Union Minister oversaw the creation of an ad-hoc committee tasked with overseeing the elections for the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) executive committee within 45 days. Along with conducting the elections, the committee was responsible for managing the WFI’s day-to-day activities.
