Anish Bhanwala Secures Double Triumph in National Shooting Trials!

Anish Bhanwala, who has secured a quota for the Paris Olympics and is currently ranked as India’s number one, secured his second consecutive victory in the national shooting selection trials. He claimed the top spot in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol T4 trial held in Bhopal on Tuesday. Anish delivered an impressive performance, hitting 35 out of 40 targets in the final. This result mirrored the T3 trial outcome, with Gurmeet from the Army finishing in second place with 31 hits.

Vijayveer Sidhu, another Paris Olympics quota holder, secured the third position with 22 hits. In a parallel success for Paris quota holders, Arjun Babuta excelled in the men’s 10m air rifle T3 trial, achieving a final score of 253.7. This score equaled the finals world record set by his Indian teammate, Divyansh Singh Panwar, at the Cairo ISSF World Cup the previous month. The Navy’s Kiran Ankush Jadhav claimed the second position in the event, while the top qualifier, Sri Karthik Sabri Raj from Tamil Nadu, finished third. Arjun had qualified in the second position with a score of 632.8.

During the third match of the day, Ayushi Podder from Railways emerged victorious in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event, securing a final round score of 459.7. Vidarsa Vinod from Kerala claimed the second spot with a score of 457.7, while Heena Gohei from Gujarat secured the third position with a score of 447.8. Ayushi managed to overcome a seventh-place qualification and delivered a stellar performance when it counted the most. In the qualification round, Manini Kaushik of Rajasthan led the pack with an impressive score of 586.
